Sometimes, things do really render you speechless, and on the morning that we rolled out of our sleeping bags into the fresh and frosty Arizona air, we were moments away from being told to STFU by Mother Nature herself.

It was cold, freezing in fact, and we had had the great idea of sleeping under the stars instead of being warm in a tent that night. I mean, we were at the Grand Canyon, it felt like it demanded al-fresco sleeping rather then huddling under canvas. Feet close to the camp fire, heads wrapped in beanies, we slipped into slumber before waking up to what was going to be the best sunrise of our lives to date.

Even 7 and a half years later, I still can’t find the words to describe the feeling of watching the sun melt over the burnt rock. So uh, here it is…

I love the Grand Canyon. You’ve inspired me to make my own #tbt’s! There are so many beautiful places, but the Grand Canyon is always nothing but breath taking. As you said, “we were moments away from being told to STFU by Mother Nature herself.”
