Our recent trip to Switzerland involved an extremely early morning flight from Bristol to Geneva – the lure of cheap flights in the early hours are something I will never learn my lesson about, and 3am alarms to get to the airport in time have been far too frequent recently! But then, who am I to sniff at £40 return flights?

After a two hour drive from Plymouth to the airport and an excessively long queue at security – it would seem that, despite Bristol airport’s expansion, the place wasn’t quite equipped to deal with the influx of people – we were relieved to be able to fall into the comfy seats of the Bristol Airport AspirePlus Lounge, away from the chaos.

The lounges open at 4am, and depending on what time of day you arrive, a spread of complimentary hot and cold food is waiting. We tucked right in to the scrambled eggs and sausages on offer (and Prosecco, obviously) and for breakfast there were also pastries, cereal, bread and fruit available, as well as tea, coffee, juice and a whole menu of complimentary booze if, like me, you believe it’s always happy hour somewhere.

The adult-only, AspirePlus Lounges all come with charging points, free WiFi, newspapers and magazines to read, as well as a telly with the news on silent and complimentary food and drinks all day. The Bristol lounge was expertly decked out in relaxing colours and the service was impeccable.

What with the calming atmosphere, complimentary food & drink and staff who were professional and relaxed, the Aspire Lounge was the perfect place to slip into holiday mode a few hours earlier than usual.

Need this before your next flight? AspirePlus Lounges can be found at Bristol and Newcastle, and Aspire Lounges can be found all over the world, from Amsterdam to Nairobi. Prices begin at £34.99 for AspirePlus, and at £20.98 for Aspire.
